Information about Towns and Castles

The Czech Republic has a rich history. This is shown in the many historical towns and castles. In the direct surrounding there are:

Náchod:

Beautiful historical centre. From the main square a large stairs leads to the castle of Náchod.
Castle Náchod: A castle form the 13th century with a rich interior.
Kuks: Former spa from the 17th century.
Broumov: In this town from the 13th century you find a historical center as well as the famous Benedict monastery.
Monastery of Broumov: Beautiful preserved Benedict monastary from the 14th century with magnificent ceiling paintings and a large library.
Nové Město nad Metují: Beautiful town built on the rocks above the river Metuji. In the centre you also find the castle.
Castle Nové Město nad Metují: Castle with a very beautiful interior. Worthwhile visiting a lot. With a remarkable number of statues and a wooden bridge that leeds you to the garden.
Ratiborice: Summer residence of the owners of the Náchod castle. This castle is situated in a very nice park.
Trutnov
Hradec Králové: Large town, about 50 km south of Trutnov. The large brick cathedral and the white tower dominate one of the sides of the central square. It also has a new modern centre, a large town park and a beautiful Jugendstil hydro-electric power station.
Dvůr Králové: Historical town with a nice centre square and where there is the famous and largest ZOO of Middle Europe.
Jaroměř: Beautiful town with several things worth seeing. The train station shows a permanent exhibition of ancient locs and trains.
Janské Lázně: Historical spa. Nowadays a well known ski area. In summer or winter to the top of the Černá Hora by cable ride. Than down hill hiking, biking or skiing.
Vrchlabi: Centre of the Giant Mountains with a castle and garden in the centre of the town.
